The Steam Cleaners Battle It Out!

Cleaners On Tv > Cleaning Articles > Steam Cleaners

Steam cleaners are the latest cleaning craze to hit the block. Every time you look there seems to be a new steam cleaner on tv. They vary in shape and size, but the one thing they all have in common is that they, well... steam!

In the world of steam cleaners where power rules, you might think that the bigger the cleaner is; the better. In actuality, steam cleaners seem to be getting smaller and smaller and yet, more poweful. Consider the new kid on the block; the Shark Steam Bottle by Euro Pro. It's packs 1500 watts of power and is about as big as a bottle of spring water. I imagine that's how it got it's name. How's that compared to the veteran Steam Buggy? Remember that? That's the one you carry on your back like a back pack.

Then there's the 'middle-of-the-road' sized steamer like the Scunci. It's lightweight, compact, yet powerful. It's in the same class is the Bullet Steamer. We haven't seen or heard from the Bullet Steamer in a while. We imagine it got it's steamer kicked by one of the others mentioned here. Too bad.

Now, we don't figure how the steam cleaners can possibly get any smaller - but you never know with these things. Can you imagine the next one being the size of a phone? LOL.

Ok now, which steam cleaner is better? Well, in essence they all clean and sanitze in the same way. That is, they use super hot pressurized steam to do the dirty work. So then, should you choose on power? The Shark Steam Bottle boasts 1500 watts of power while the Scunci Steamer has 1000 watts. This may seem to make the Shark the better one, however don't be bedazzled with all this talk of wattage. In actuality, what does the cleaning is the temperature of the steam. To kill germs and bacteria you need about 140°C - 145°C of hot steam. Most steam cleaners deliver that.

To choose, consider how quickly the steam cleaners heat up. The Steam Bottle says that it's ready to use in seconds and pokes fun at the Scunci because it makes you wait. However, the Scunci and Steam Buggy both have adjustable nozzles so you control how much steam to use. We didn't notice that on the Shark Steam Bottle.

So, If you want cute, small and powerful, then go with the Shark. If you want to clean your entire home, and quite possibly your neighbor's, all in one shot, then go with the Steam Buggy. Lastly, consider the Scunci Steamer if you want something that's not too small and not too bulkly, but can still get the job done.

Either way you'll come out a winner as steam cleaners are a great way to naturally and inexpensively clean your home. Happy Steaming!
